Mortum Ore is a black colored mineral block found in Mortum. Mining Mortum Ore will drop Mortum Fragments, which are then used to create a variety of items. To obtain Mortum Fragments, the player must mine it with a Rupee Pickaxe at least. Mortum Ore is the only ore in Mortum. Mortum Fragments may also be obtained by smelting Mortum Ore. Mortum is a tier higher than Skythern, and a tier lower than Halite.

Natural Occurrence[]

Mortum Ore is found among the stone areas of Mortum, spawning in veins of 3 to 8. Mortum Ore is rare, and is seldom found exposed out in the open, but most exposed Twilight Stone pockets contain a vein of Mortum, making them easier to obtain than Skythern.

Mining[]

Due to Mortum Ore being extremely rare, mining techniques are required to find large quantities of it. As the environment of Mortum is surprisingly similar to the Overworld, similar mining techniques may be applied. Since it also spawns in the ceiling of Mortum, Angelic Armor is recommended, but only as a means of transportation.

Mortum ore in the game.

Strip mining is the best way to find Mortum Ore, as Mortum is quite similar to the Overworld. However, the player does not need to dig deep underground to strip mine, as Mortum Ore occurs naturally at any elevation.

It is important to keep track of the player's surroundings, as there are many hostile mobs which can easily overpower the player. This is important at all times, as mobs in Mortum are extremely powerful.

When mining Mortum Ore, it is suggested to wear Eden Armor, as this will increase the yield of Mortum Fragments from 1 to 4, and use a fortune 3 pick to increase the maximum fragments to 7. However, the player must always remember to swap to stronger armor after mining, as Dravite Armor will leave the player extremely vulnerable. A better tactic is to silk touch them and then go home, place them down and mine them with a fortune pick, as this will make sure you are safe from mobs.

Uses[]

Mortum Ore drop Mortum Fragments, which can be crafted into Mortum Dust, the ammunition for the Mortum Blitz.

Mortum Fragments can also be crafted into Mortum Gems, which are then used to craft Mortum Slicers. Finally, Mortum Gems can then be crafted into Mortum Chunks, which are used to make higher-tier Tools, Weapons and Armor.

Trivia[]

  • As Mortum Ore is rare, killing native creatures such as Demons of Darkness and Basilisks is a more effective way of farming Mortum Fragments. This is because they drop Mortum Souls upon death, which can be crafted into Mortum Fragments. In addition, you do not have to cover vast distances, as all mob drops are renewable and they spawn quite frequently.
