Pumpkin Spiders were added in 1.4.1. They spawn on grass. They are initially disguised, but when a player gets too close to a Pumpkin Spider, they will come out of the pumpkin patch and attack. They will always drop 1 Pumpkin and can drop 0-2 Terran Shards. You can easily detect a pumpkin spider by checking for its shadow (if you have them on), checking for it's pattern, and/or seeing if it's in the normal grid pattern. If you have a damage checking mod you are able to use that too.
